COLLEGE HEALTH BUILDING SEEKS PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS - October 15, 2011
The College seeks to commission art works for the exterior and interior of the building. The majority of the funding will be allocated to purchasing the external art work. Interior art may be of different types: ceiling suspended, free standing, and wall mounted or hung. The art will resonate with the energy and vibrancy of the campus, educational mission of the College and the purposes of the building. COCC has six other permanent art installations on campus: Full Circle by Judy Speidel, Cascade Leaf by Robert Gherke, She Who Watches by Lillian Pitt, Alcove by Michael Boonstra, Angkor Wat II by Lee Kelly, and Landscape Elements by Betty Feves. Given the varied nature of the artworks on the COCC campus, ranging from traditional representations to abstract works there are no restrictions on artistic interpretation.

With several Percent for Art opportunities on the horizon, Philadelphia's Public Art Program invites artists to submit an application with the Public Art Artist Registry. The registry allows artists to participate in all selection processes by maintaining a record of their work that will be consulted by Public Art staff, panelists, architects, and City agencies as public art opportunities become available. The registry is open to all professional artists. There are no residency requirements for the registry, although some opportunities will be limited to the greater Philadelphia region.

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center Arts Retreat is currently accepting applications for January - June 2012 residencies. The Arts Retreat program offers self-funded 2-6 week private retreats for selected emerging artists in all disciplines. This is a competitive grant program of the California Council for the Humanities. CDP supports the research and development, production, and public engagement stages of film, radio, and interactive new media projects that document the California experience and explore issues of significance to Californians. DARTH VADER HELMET ART CONTEST - October 1, 2011
25 artists will be selected to create an original piece of art featuring an authentic Darth Vader helmet replica, which we will provide. ROME PRIZE FELLOWSHIPS - November 15, 2011
The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy’s eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $14,000 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $26,000.

The Sprout Fund seeks to commission an artist or artist team to create a signature work of permanent public art on the façade of a building in a prominent Downtown Pittsburgh location. Artists must be a current or former Pittsburgh area residents or able to demonstrate a relationship with the city. Work in a variety of media and forms will be considered. 3-5 artists or artist-led teams will be invited to submit design proposals. Budget: $100,000.
