COLLEGE HEALTH BUILDING SEEKS PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS - October 15, 2011

The College seeks to commission art works for the exterior and interior of the building. The majority of the funding will be allocated to purchasing the external art work. Interior art may be of different types: ceiling suspended, free standing, and wall mounted or hung. The art will resonate with the energy and vibrancy of the campus, educational mission of the College and the purposes of the building. COCC has six other permanent art installations on campus: Full Circle by Judy Speidel, Cascade Leaf by Robert Gherke, She Who Watches by Lillian Pitt, Alcove by Michael Boonstra, Angkor Wat II by Lee Kelly, and Landscape Elements by Betty Feves. Given the varied nature of the artworks on the COCC campus, ranging from traditional representations to abstract works there are no restrictions on artistic interpretation.

With several Percent for Art opportunities on the horizon, Philadelphia's Public Art Program invites artists to submit an application with the Public Art Artist Registry. The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center Arts Retreat is currently accepting applications for January - June 2012 residencies. The American Academy in Rome invites applications for the Rome Prize competition. One of the leading overseas centers for independent study and advanced research in the arts and the humanities, the Academy offers up to thirty fellowships for periods ranging from six months to two years. Rome Prize winners reside at the Academy’s eleven-acre center in Rome and receive room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $14,000 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $26,000.
