A national competition for the best, undiscovered talent in the world of Style. Style Wars is the first major competition for the new art-form of Style Battling. Like MC Battling, Style Battling is a fast, fierce, competitive creation--live. Think Project Runway meets Yo Momma! Banksy meets Balenciaga, WWD meets WWF, and you begin to get the picture. Who should apply: fashion designers, fine artists, stylists, students, or born performers. There are online competitions followed by live competitions in major cities. AWARDS: $1000's in Cash and product prizes, international exposure in the print and TV media, as well as the opportunity having your work reviewed, recognized and rewarded by the leading VIPs in the Fashion, Music and Art community. Winners will be announced March 1, 2008. 2008's theme is "Quiet," so depict the quietest things you can. Art may be color or black and white. The first place winner will be featured on the cover of the first Pond Ripples Magazine issue along with posters advertising the magazine. First place will also receive $100 cash and a two-year subscription to Pond Ripples. Second place will receive $50 cash and a one-year subscription to Pond Ripples. Third place will receive $25 cash and a one-year subscription to Pond Ripples. Entry fee.

An opportunity to people who crochet or knit, whether professional artists or hobbyists, to come together all over the world to express our concerns towards our countries extreme dependency on oil for energy. Those who participate will crochet or knit 36"x36" fiber panels that will express each artists view on this topic. By taking the step to create a panel with any design, and sending it in, in the larger picture, is expressing your concern towards this topic. Once all 800 panels that are needed are received, they will be sewn together to completely cover an abandoned gas station and gas pumps in central New York. No entry fee.

Open to all ages and all Canadian and US residents. The top ten selections will be published in an anthology that will be launched at our 87th Annual CAA Conference in Edmonton on July 3-6, 2008.
