LIGHT WORK ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM - December 1, 2011

Each year Light Work invites 12-15 artists to participate in its Artist-in-Residence program. Artists selected for the residency program are invited to live in Syracuse, NY for one month. Participants in the residency program are expected to use their month to pursue their own projects: photographing in the area, printing for a specific project or book, and so on. They receive a $4,000 stipend, an apartment to stay in, a private digital studio, a private darkroom, and 24-hour access to our facility. All artists working in photography and related media are eligible to apply to the Light Work Artist-in-Residence program. Entry fee.

CALL FOR VAN GOGH SCHOOLDAYS MAIL ART - December 31, 2011

The school is named Koning Willem II College after a Dutch king and in Van Gogh's days it was located in his former palace. Van Gogh was one of the very few students at the time - from 1866 to 1868 - good marks. Suddenly Van Gogh vanished from the schoolrecords into his wandering life, leaving us behind uncertain. There is only a school photo left with Vincent van Gogh in the foreground. I am a teacher of history and morphology of art at this school. Art education at the school where I teach young people is a very old tradition. Van Gogh had his first drawinglessons from my predecessor. I am very proud to be an art teacher in this particular historic environment. No entry fee.

Call for qualifications for mural and park projects at the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Medical Center Campus in Willowbrook. ARTIST RESIDENCY IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK - November 17, 2011

Smack Mellon offers free studio space to eligible artists for an eleven-month period. The program provides artists working in all visual arts media a free private studio space and a $5000 fellowship (dependent upon funding). The program does not provide living space. Artists also have access to three shared common areas: a state-of-the-art digital production lab; a fabrication shop, and a kitchen/lounge area. IRVINE FOUNDATION GRANT OPPORTUNITY - November 1, 2011

Help for nonprofit arts organizations try new ways of engaging audiences and participants. Grant awards are intended as risk capital for nonprofit arts organizations to encourage experimentation with new programming utilizing the "Who, How, Where" pathways described below. Organizations interested in exploring two or more of these pathways by prototyping a project idea may submit an Exploring Engagement Fund proposal.
