Films should be no longer than 25 minutes but can be any genre including artists' film, music videos, dance films, horror and comedy or anything you can think of! Recession Art is taking submissions in all media for our next exhibit to be held at the Invisible Dog in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, from April 30-May 8, 2011. "Irrational Exuberance" will explore seemingly rational systems of mass belief or delusion, and their relationship to economic and moral values. Especially of interest are pieces where form is at odds with content, such as ecstatic depictions of pain, highly technical treatments of the intangible, or lavish renderings of the supposedly worthless. Installations and works that involve mass participation will be given special consideration. The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 7. Artists will be notified of acceptance by the end of February.

is an exhibition and publication that seeks to investigate feminism as a historically situated moment and the possibilities and necessities of its contemporary manifestations. Though organized by and stemming from an artistic mission, this project invites not only artists, writers, and other individuals from other artistic practices, but also an interdisciplinary group of activists and intellectuals to contemplate their experiences with, preconceptions of, and convictions surrounding feminism. Seeking applications from creative practitioners and science and research organisations for the 2011 Synapse Residency Program. Now in its sixth round, the program is a core element of the Synapse initiative of the Australia Council of the Arts and ANAT, which supports collaboration between artists and scientists. Our Willow Community Gallery, suitable for two to four person or solo shows and installations is 12' x 25' with 12' ceilings (5 openings) with a standard size door entry. Accepted artists are required to install their show, produce show cards and provide an opening reception, though no fee is charged for the space. LynnArts sends out press releases on all shows, but strongly encourages artists to send their own promotion materials as well. Artists are also strongly encouraged to offer a community component to their exhibition like a gallery talk or demonstration. STUDENT GIVE WATER A VOICE ART COMPETITION - March 22, 2011
We hear about climate change in the news every day. But what we don’t hear about is changing water -- either too much or too little! Some communities experience heavy rainfall and extreme flooding; while others face a chronic need to find more water as local sources are running dry. Some are even seeing their communities disappear due to rising seas. Two winners (one national and one international) will be selected from each age group and each form of media. Prizes will be made up of art supplies, books, or video equipment, depending on the type of submission.

Our culture is inundated by the photographic image. Everyday of our lives we face a multitude of varying photographs. Yet, we rarely contemplate the implications of a single picture. Instead, we have become desensitized and too often this rich form of information is taken for granted. Photography Unseen is an exhibition that invites artists to address this concern via a unique perspective, there are no photographs allowed. The subject is photography but all mediums except the photographic print may be included. Perhaps this strategy will spawn a more dynamic appreciation for something we encounter so often. Seeking a skilled and highly-motivated planning artist to participate in a year-long residency focused on the Regional Trail System (RTS) in which they will develop an arts master plan that includes: (1) an overarching scheme/ethos that can help define and articulate the identity of this unique amenity; and (2) a long-term and synergistic approach to public art programming within the RTS, including the formation of concrete recommendations for the inclusion of artworks in multiple media and in specific locations. "THE SEX ISSUE: VOLUME 6" - February 2, 2011
Projekt30 will host its sixth annual sex themed exhibition, showcasing fine artists who comment upon gender and sex in our society. We are accepting work ranging from the personal, to the political, to the near-pornographic. The exhibition will be publicly juried: Artwork submitted will be presented prior to the exhibition so visitors may help select what will be included, unlike other juried exhibitions everyone receives exposure.
