A broad survey of sculpture, installation and video art being done today, will be juried from digital images by Sarah Newman, Curator of Contemporary Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art. Ms. Newman will select and WSG will award funds for the Sculpture NOW First Place "Tom Rooney Prize" of $500, (named after long-time/founding WSG member and Board member.) The award will be presented at the exhibition reception scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2012. Entry fee.

CALL FOR PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS - April 20, 2012

The Alexandria Commission for the Arts (ACA) is accepting proposals through April 20, 2012 for the temporary placement or experience of art in public spaces through a special opportunity grant. The ACA is seeking innovative, thought-provoking projects by artists that relate to a proposed space or spaces in an engaging way. All artistic disciplines will be considered including, but not limited to: visual art, storytelling, poetry, spoken word, dance, music, theatre, performance art, and new media. Entry fee.

INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHY - May 31, 2012

Covering such pressing issues as health, poverty, oppression, war, famine, religious/political persecution and upheaval, human migration and immigration, the landless and much more, photographers of all nationalities who are 18 years of age or older. The photographer whose proposal is selected to receive the $5000 USD grant will be immediately contacted, followed by a public press announcement to be made sometime in late July. Entry fee.

CALL FOR THE ART OF SAN FRANCISCO - April 25, 2012

ArtSpan is holding an open call for Artwork submissions inspired by San Francisco’s citizens, icons, history, and love of art. The winning Artwork will be used for the 2012 San Francisco Open Studios Campaign, including cover Artwork for the Guide (a full-color, 144-page catalog with 20,000 print run), as well as promotional advertising in various publications, outdoor advertising, print and online broadcasts, and other promotional vehicles.
