INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE COMPETITION - May 30, 2008

The City of Palm Desert is now accepting applications for the 2009/2010 El Paseo Invitational Exhibition. The exhibition is showcased on the medians of El Paseo and is seen by thousands of visitors each year. Each year several pieces are sold to local and visiting collectors, in addition, to the potential of the Art in Public Places Commission selecting a piece to add to the permanent public art collection of the City of Palm Desert. $2,500 honorarium for each selected artwork. Artworks can be sold, but not removed for six months once installation is completed. Entry fee.

JURIED SCULPTURE EXHIBITION - April 15, 2008

This regional (within 300 miles of Saginaw, Michigan) biennial exhibition will be held from June 13 to September 20, 2008. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 1:00 pm. The juror is Sergio De Giusti, an Italian born sculptor who resides in Michigan where he has taught art history and studio classes at Wayne State University and sculpture at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit for over 20 years. CALL FOR CONTEMPORARY SCULPTURE - April 19, 2008

Open to all artists aged 18 and over. Any 3-D media, non-figurative, no functional ceramics. Emphasis is on the exploratory and experimental. Individual works are not to exceed approximately 6 feet in any direction. Sculptor must be able to carry piece alone (a consideration for our installer). Juried-in pieces must be ready to display, with any necessary hanging material in place, and instructions. By taking part in the show, artists agree to a 30% tax-deductible donation to the Center from all sales. Entry fee.

STUDENT T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION - April 25, 2008

On May 2, 2008, the TOP TEN entries will be announced in T-Shirt Magazine No.7 and will be open for online voting for a period of one week. The TOP FIVE entries, including the grand prize winner, will be announced on May 16, 2008 in T-Shirt Magazine No.9. The grand prize winner will recieve $1,000 and will have his/her t-shirt for sale in the T-Shirt Magazine online shop, from which he/she will recieve royalties of $3 for every copy sold for as long as the t-shirt is for sale. The four runner ups will also have their t-shirts for sale in the online shop and recieve $3 for every shirt sold. This means if any of the top designs reach sales of 1,000 copies the creator of the design will recieve $3,000. Entry fee.

Seeking an artist to create a fun and unique public art enhancement for Countrywood Park, soon to be renamed Fletcher Creek Park. The top three residential priorities for the installation include: promoting community interaction and bringing people of all ages together, linking the project with the surrounding environment, and including an innovative educational aspect. The location within the park and nature of the enhancement is to be left up to the artist. The budget for this artwork is $50,000. All artists who live in the tri-state area, which includes Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, are eligible. Entry fee.
