Upon completion, the college is expecting to receive Gold LEED certification for the site. CALL FOR PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS - April 20, 2009

A liberal arts college is seeking qualified individuals to create a large public artwork for its new Richard and Margot Warch Campus Center. This artwork will be suspended in the main level entryway, must exist within specific dimensions (see specifications and photographs), and must be appropriate for an academic setting. The budget for this permanent art project is $50,000 and is intended to cover all associated costs including, but not limited to – fabrication, materials, engineer fees, artist’s fees, travel, shipping, insurance, etc. Exception: Lawrence University will cover costs associated with the installation of the artwork.

EPA WATER QUALITY VIDEO CONTEST - April 22, 2009

The goal is to "engage the public on water quality issues and inspire stewardship for our nation’s waters. Videos should help educate the public about water quality issues and simple steps that individuals and communities can take to improve and protect water quality." Two winners will be chosen: one for a short, 30 or 60 second video that is useable as a public service announcement, and another for a longer 1 to 3 minute video. Each winner will receive a $2,500 cash award, and their videos will be featured on EPA's website.

JURIED FINE ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION - April 5, 2009

WORLD TELEKINESIS COMPETITION - April 17, 2009

This is an organized tournament event in which teams from around the world engage in psychic competition to remotely influence the behavior of a candle. Matches are played by lighting a candle at the centre of the official game board, at an agreed-upon time,
signaling the beginning of the game. A match lasts for one hour, or until the game candle is extinguished, whichever comes first. The object of the game is to have the wax from the candle drip onto the opposing team's side of the game board. This objective is to be accomplished by remote telekinetic influence. The winning team will be awarded the World Telekinesis Competition trophy, which they will get to keep until next year's competition.

DIABETES DESIGN CONTEST - May 31, 2009

This competition is open to any individuals or organizations passionate about diabetes and product design – whether you're an enterprising patient or parent, a startup company, a design student, an independent developer or engineer, or a pharma R&D pro. INTERNATIONAL JURIED ART SHOW - June 26, 2009

Seeking entries for its 7th annual international juried art show, "What's the Big Idea?" to be held November 6 - December 3, 2009. Artists 18 years and older, working in all 2-D and 3-D art media, are invited to submit digital entries. The exhibition is limited to original artwork created within two years of the entry date. Artists should consider the theme, applying concepts considered to be visionary, lofty and bold. The exhibit is open to the general public and artwork must be viewable for all ages. Prizes include a $2,000 purchase prize as well as numerous other prizes. Entry fee is $35 for up to three submissions.
