JURIED ART SHOW - April 1, 2008
This show is for the exhibition and sale of visual arts and will feature artisans who work with fiber, wood, precious metals and stones, paint, photography, clay and other media. These artisans will be competing for $1000 in cash awards. Several of the artisans will be demonstrating their skills and music performances will be scheduled throughout the day. To be held Saturday, April 26, 2008. Entry fee.

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS MFA - February 1, 2008
Available in an intense interdisciplinary visual arts program. Facilities include fully equipped darkrooms for: black and white, color, non-silver and mural printing. Also available is a digital lab with new iMacs and Epson 4800 and 9800 printers. Students are provided with individual studios as well as a graduate darkroom. Stipends for nine month contract periods are approx $10,000 plus tuition waiver and can include teaching experience.

CALL FOR FILM FOOTAGE - January 1, 2008
Seeking footage from filmmakers around the world for feature-length documentary, tentatively called Cultures of Resistance, for non-profit multifaceted initiative that seeks creative ways to bring people from all walks of life together to promote sustainability, diversity, and peace with justice. Film will be collaborative cinematic collage about the myriad ways in which people are opposing war, oppression, and corporate-led globalization in their everyday lives. Film credit and small honorarium for any footage used. Any proceeds from film will be used to fund other arms of initiative.

FOUR STATE CERAMIC EXHIBITION - January 16, 2008
Exhibition to be held March 3 - April 11, 2008. This juried exhibition is aimed at showcasing and celebrating the best in both functional and non-functional ceramics in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Jurors are Bob Anderson and Shoji Satake. A clay artist must at least 18 years old and resides in one of the four states. Entry fee.

VIRGINIA CRAFT & EXHIBITION DIRECTORY - July 1, 2008
Exhibition and Free Listings Increase Visibility of Virginia Craft. The Allegheny Craft Network project is compiling the names of craft artisans, and the galleries and festivals that support them. The project is funded by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development through the Artisans Center of Virginia and is focused on the small towns, villages, and rural areas of Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Craig, Highland, Roanoke, Rockbridge and Rockingham counties. A special exhibition will include selected works from the nine counties and will be on public display at the Artisans Center's gallery in Waynesboro from July 17 through September 4, 2008. No entry fee
