CALL FOR PUBLIC ART PROPOSALS - May 5, 2008
This Sound Transit underground light rail stop will connect the NE Seattle campus with the downtown core and SeaTac International Airport. Transit riders reach the train platform 110 feet below the surface using a series of criss-crossing escalators and staircases as well as fast elevators. A prime art zone is an architectural feature wall reaching from ground level to the train boarding area, which will be designed as a porous, unifying experience for the passengers using the station. Budget: $550,000 for design, fabrication, installation, taxes and all associated costs. Entry fee.
