Visual artists (excluding filmmakers, video artists, and performance artists) are invited to apply for grants to enable recipients to develop their talent and concentrate on their art. Artists must be 40 years or older, and must live within 150 miles of Washington, D.C. Four grants totaling $65,000 were awarded in 2009. Applicants may submit images of their work either on CD or in slide form.
