The curators seek works by Asian women artists who have immigrated to the United States. As an international center for art, New York City attracts artists from all over the world, many of whom deal with dual cultural, racial and national identities, and issues of separation from families and loved ones. In the city, one may experience culture shock due to peculiar living situations, and to different gender role expectations than those experienced in more male-dominated Asian countries. These experiences can be both funny and profound.
