This festival highlights independent works that deal with rural people and places. While so much media is set within the confines of big cities like New York and Los Angeles, Rural Route wants to showcase the many unique and extraordinary overlooked voices of the ‘everyday’ world. We strive to put together an international community of like-minded artists that produce fiction films, documentaries, and experimental pieces from the fields, mountains, desert, and sea. Topics include: progressive agriculture, outdoor adventure, indigenous issues, the environment, and travel.
