NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION - February 1, 2008

March 10–April 18, 2008. The competition is open to all artists 18 years and older and to all two-dimensional wall-hung work. All entries must be no larger than 36 inches in any dimension and weigh no more than 15 pounds. Entries will be judged from slides or CDs. Digital files should be no larger than 6mb at 300 dpi and saved as jpegs. All slide entries must be high quality 35 mm slides, plastic or paper. YOUTH THEATER AUDITIONS FOR OLIVER! - January 26, 2008

Open auditions will be held on the Mainstage at Pheasant Run on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. No appointment is necessary. Interested children should prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song (bring sheet music for accompanist). Children may be asked to do a cold reading from the script, and Cockney and English accents are very beneficial. Dance training is helpful, but not necessary. Children should bring a headshot and resume.

CALL FOR PUBLIC MURAL PROPOSALS - February 29, 2008

The City of San Bruno, CA and the San Bruno Culture & Arts Commission are providing an opportunity for emerging and established artists to create two large scale, temporary, two-dimensional murals for display in a public outdoor space. Artists will provide the original design concept, paint the mural in sections, and fabricate the art piece to be mounted on a temporary structure at a prominent Downtown site. The competition is open to all greater San Francisco Bay Area artists eighteen years of age or older. The design is to be the original work of the artist. Artist collaborative teams are eligible to apply. Artists are required to submit their qualifications as well as a specific proposal for the designated sites. Each mural has a separate call for artists. Artists interested in developing proposals for each mural must submit two separate proposals. The project budgets will range from $10,000 to $30,000 based on the size of the murals being proposed. Entry fee.

CALL FOR PUBLIC ART - January 11, 2008

The Washington DC Southwest Neighborhood Assembly History Task Force Call Box Committee, in collaboration with Cultural Tourism DC, seeks artists to participate in Art on Call. This public arts project is a city-wide effort led by Cultural Tourism DC in partnership with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the District Department of Transportation to restore Washington, DC's historic abandoned police and fire Call Boxes as neighborhood artistic icons. Art on Call challenges artists to use existing police or fire Call Boxes as frames for the artist's unique and creative image or design that can be permanently installed within the call box. No entry fee.

CALL FOR BOOK/PHOTOGRAPHY RELATED ENTRIES - January 23, 2008

Photography in Book Arts and The Book in Photography (March 24 - April 25, 2008). For "Photography in Book Arts", the subject matter is open and the medium is the artist book. For "The Book in Photography", the medium is 2-dimensional photography with a book theme. The theme may be broad to include the book, seeking knowledge, literacy, reading and writing, communication, language. Acceptable photographic approaches include traditional black and white photography, color photography, xerography, digital photography, alternative processes, photo-based printmaking, mixed media, and other non-traditional processes. Work must have been completed within the past five years, and not previously exhibited in New Image Gallery. Residents of the continental United States are eligible. Entry fee.

Seeking Poems of Provocation & Witness. We are looking for artistic, experimental, and challenging film/video interpretations of poetry that explore critical social issues.
