CALL FOR PATTERN VERSUS RANDOM THEMED ART - October 15, 2009

CALADAN GALLERY presents a juried exhibition entitled "Geometric Sequence: Random or Otherwise". The origin of patterning comes from nature; it exists within construction, of environments that include this natural world, as well as the world invented by us. Is this the creation of a secondary realm, a mere copy of the natural world? Or is it a transformation of that which already exists? One aspect of this Call to Artists is to answer this question. Another aspect is the examination of geometry and its sequence purely on an aesthetic level. We see geometric patterning everywhere around us. We are searching for artwork built upon these layers of sequence. We have been extremely fortunate to be creating an exciting, diverse, and active meeting place for artists and viewers alike, in a warm and positive virtual atmosphere since 2003. All mediums except video are eligible.

CALL FOR ARTISTS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS - September 5, 2009

CARMEL ART & FILM FESTIVAL October 8 - 11, 2009 Carmel is the land of Clint Eastwood, amazing painters and legendary photographers like Edward Weston, so we think it's a great mix. We are working with the Sundance Film Festival for the film portion but we are also including a juried fine art show and a separate juried photography show. 50 artists (painters and sculptors) will be juried in for a two-day festival in the park in downtown Carmel. Each artist will be provided a 10x10 tent to showcase and sell their work. We expect to draw heavily from all over California, but especially from the Bay Area and Los Angeles (film connection), so we think it will be a great opportunity to get in front of qualified collectors. 50 photographers will also be chosen for a separate 30 day exhibition in the Margery Evans Gallery in Carmel, and of those the top 10 will be given a group show in New York City and one will be selected for a feature in ARTWORKS Magazine. ALL U.S. applicants will receive a 1-year subscription to ARTWORKS Magazine just for applying! Entry fee.
