CALL FOR SUPERHEROES THEMED ART - June 1, 2011
Superheroes is a multi-media, group exhibition about heroes, villains and other less-definable examples of human possibility. It explores the way we absorb these archetypes, and for good or ill, use them to inspire, author and rationalize our behavior. The exhibition features heroic representations of humanity’s light side, dark side and all shades in between. It is informed by pop culture notions of “Super” – both hero and villain – and examines the ways in which the Superhero and Supervillain archetypes are integrated into our culture, informing ideas of morality, civil responsibility and human achievement. The exhibition is curated by 516 ARTS and guest curator Neilie Johnson, and artists are selected by both invitation and this call for submissions. Dates: September 24 or October 1 - December 17, 2011 (working dates for opening). No entry fee.

CALL FOR "TRAVERSING DIMENSION" THEMED ART - April 25, 2011
We are seeking to define the makings of dimension. Two dimensions can be said to reflect nothing but a flat plane. What resides within this surface? Three dimensions seemingly are borne from two. The answer resides not only in creation but in our own perception of it. Interestingly, illusion lies in the artist's ability to suggest three dimensions from the existence of two, whether it be on a canvas or a computer screen. We are looking forward to creating an exhibition of dimensional intrigue. All mediums except video are eligible.

WORLD TELEKINESIS COMPETITION - May 15, 2011
This is a forum for speculative action -- an organized tournament in which teams from around the world engage in psychic competition to remotely influence the behavior of a candle. Matches are played by lighting a candle at the centre of the official game board, at an agreed-upon time, signaling the beginning of the game. A match lasts for one hour, or until the game candle is extinguished, whichever comes first. In the event of a tie at the end of one hour, the match goes into sudden death. The object of the game is to have the wax from the candle drip onto the opposing team's side of the game board. This objective is to be accomplished by remote telekinetic influence. The winning team will be awarded the World Telekinesis Competition trophy, which they will get to keep until next year's competition.

CALL FOR SMALL WORKS - April 13, 2011
Every year Manifest calls for little works of art from around the world. Each exhibit brings in hundreds of powerful yet diminutive masterpieces for our jury to consider. Inevitably we end up with a gallery full of diverse, compelling, and exquisite little gems. Manifest’s patrons eagerly await the Magnitude SEVEN event each year. So we are always excited to offer this annual call to artists to submit works no larger than seven inches in any dimension (any proportion). Standard presentation devices like mats and frames that are not considered part of the work of art are not limited by the 7" criteria.
