JURIED BOOK COMPETITION - June 7, 2011
Open to Interpretation is a juried book competition bringing together photographers, poets, and writers. Each book begins with a themed call for photos. The chosen images become the literary inspiration for the writers' submissions. A book is created that matches each winning photo with two stories or poems that offer different interpretations of the image. The unique collaboration adds new dimensions to both the photos and the written word. Entry fee.

Create Now provides creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities to thousands of the most vulnerable children and youth, ages 2-25, in Southern California. We serve kids who have been abused, neglected, orphaned, are left homeless, teen parents, substance abusers, victims of domestic violence or incarcerated. We need an intern this summer to help with a number of projects, like helping to organize tickets to concerts and plays, fundraising, program development and marketing. While this is an unpaid internship, we will provide you with a letter of reference and school credits if possible. You will also have the chance to attend fantastic cultural events, along with our youth.

VINCE DROSER TRIBUTE AT PEABODY SQUARE/DORCHESTER IN BOSTON, MA. This project is open to artists residing in New England. Trinity Financial invites artists to forward qualifications for a sculptural tribute to Vince A. Droser to be permanently installed in Peabody Square, Dorchester. The work to be commissioned is envisioned to be an "art installation with a surprise". The committee would like to honor Vince's spirit by allowing the project to also function as a location for annual community/culinary celebrations. Budget: $150,000 - $200,000.

CALL FOR REGIONAL SMALL SCULPTURE - July 17, 2011
Appropriate artworks should be small enough for easy handling by no more than two people or smaller and can include small installation or video work with a sculptural component. The sculpture may be for exhibition on the floor, a pedestal, or the wall or for ceiling suspension if it is lightweight. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks, created within the last 3 years. Artwork will be exhibited indoors. Artists are responsible for shipping, insurance during shipment, and difficult installations. The Sculpture Center insures all artwork while on its premises.

The residency offers professional artists the opportunity to live and work in the majestic desert environment of southern Utah for a period of four weeks. Artist will also receive a $300 stipend to assist with travel and supply expenses. Established in 1990, the Workspace Program provides annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create new work in handmade paper. The No Dead Artists exhibition was founded in 1995 to give a voice to emerging artists. The exhibition's name is derived from the old adage that artists never achieve success until they are dead. No Dead Artists turns that notion on its head and gives emerging artists their first break in the art world. ARTISTS WITH DISABILITIES EXHIBITION - June 10, 2011
Fifteen artists will be selected for the exhibition and will share $60,000 in cash awards: a $20,000 grand prize, a $10,000 first award, a $6,000 second award, and 12 awards of excellence of $2,000 each. The exhibition takes place at the Smithsonian Institution's S. Dillon Ripley Center in Washington, D.C., from September 2011 to January 2012 and will travel nationally to college and university galleries and art museums for up to two years. This project provides an opportunity for an individual or team of artists to create a site-specific public art project that affirms the vibrancy of Madison's Capitol Square. The total budget for the project is not to exceed $100,000. The Committee is seeking artists with the following experience: 1) design and installation of outdoor art; 2) working in a collaborative effort with multiple stakeholders; 3) interest in creating artwork that integrates well with the design of plaza; and 4) artwork that minimizes operational/maintenance costs and energy needs. The total art budget for the project is not to exceed $100,000. PEDIMENT OF THE EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. PAUL IN BOSTON, MA RFQ. The RFQ is open to all artists with no geographic restrictions. As part of the renovation of the cathedral, the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts has decided to commission an artist to design and produce a work of contemporary public art for this long vacant space. The UrbanArts Institute at Massachusetts College of Art and Design is facilitating the project. Budget: $200,000.

CALL FOR "SCENES OF NEW ENGLAND" THEMED PHOTOGRAPHY - May 22, 2011
We are seeking original fine art photography for a themed exhibit titled "Scenes of New England". The exhibit will run from June 1 to September 30, 2011. Accepted works will be exhibited at nourish restaurant in Lexington, MA. Owners of nourish are particularly supportive of the arts and are lending their walls to Massachusetts' artists. The restaurant also hosts an artist reception during the exhibition. No commission is taken on sales and multiple pieces have sold during our previous exhibits. We do encourage all participating artists to donate 10% of the price of sold works to their local food pantry.

JURIED PHOTOGRAPHY/WRITING BOOK COMPETITION - June 7, 2011
Open to Interpretation is a juried book competition of photography, poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. Each book begins with a themed call for photos. The chosen images become the literary inspiration for the writers' submissions. A book is created that matches each winning photo with two stories or poems that offer different interpretations of the image. The unique collaboration adds new dimensions to both the photos and the written word.

Proposals should involve, be inspired by, investigate, or interpret themes of light, from light as medium to light as concept. Existing work, as well as proposals for new projects, will be considered. However, preference will be given to site-specific projects that engage this particular location. An honorarium will be given to each project. All entries are eligible for the Best in Show award ($1500) and the People's Choice Award ($500). All green entries are also eligible for a Best in Green award ($1500).

The Art Education program at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is excited to extend an invitation to educators of all fields, from the K-12 spectrum and higher education, for 50-minute session proposals for the 27th Biennial Art Educators Conference. This year’s conference will be in the form of a webinar through Wimba. If you have dealt with social learning issues in your classroom, art works, or research, we would love for you to share these experiences with other educators participating at the webinar. The conference will be held on March 31, 2012. Small stipends will be available for accepted proposals.

$1-MILLION PRODUCTION FUND FOR AFRICAN FILMMAKERS - October 1, 2011
The Hot Docs-Blue Ice Film Documentary Fund will disburse six to ten grants each year to successful applicants for projects in various stages of production. Grants will range from $10,000 to $40,000. In addition to financing, the initiative will also offer valuable resources and industry connections. Through an accompanying mentorship program, selected African producers will team with international production partners to bring their projects to international markets, festivals, broadcast and online audiences.

The call is open to emerging professional artists living within 100 miles of Seattle. The Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Department of Finance and Administrative Services (DFAS) and Triad Development, Inc, seeks up to eight emerging artists to develop temporary, large-scale, colorful panels for the fence surrounding the Civic Square construction site in downtown Seattle. The Civic Square site is located between Third and Fourth avenues and Cherry and James streets. Selected artists will receive between $1,000 and $3,000, depending on number of their images selected for the fence panels.

This is a prime location in Boston across from the Boston Common with views of the Massachusetts State House beyond.
